Kyle's Speech to the Christina School Board on Tuesday, October 13, 2009

This situation I have been put into has made realize there is no justice in the Christina School District. I have been trying for five months to figure out why I am being punished for being set-up. What I really want to know is why it was okay for bullies to bully me all year, and nothing be done. Why I was told by school administrators I was a tattle tale for telling on bullies and I should fight back. My parents taught me to always' walk away and that is what I did, but doing that got me no where. I have always enjoyed school but last year I hated school. I was scared every day to go to school and that is not a good feeling to have. As far as the pocket knife I understand they said I had possesion of the pocket knife but when something is dropped on my lap I normally pick it up. I can still picture this in my head. As I am looking at the pocket knife I glance up, two kids are pointing at me and telling the police officer I have a knife. Within two minutes I am taken to the office and questioned. I did not bring the pocket knife to school and that was proven (by my parents) but I am still being punished because I got nervous and hid the knife in my pocket for a hole two minutes. Again school administrators tell me to lie. They tell me I should never tell the truth I should always lie and I would not be in this type of trouble. Why are these administrators allowed to speak to us kids this way. I hope some day that you will look back and realize the embarrassment and the sadness you have caused. Hopefully someday I hope I will be able to realize that what has happened to me has happened for a reason - and not a bad reason.

Notes from Kyle's mother, Dodi

Kyle was bullied all year - he had lights shattered over his head, punched, kicked, tripped and even had books thrown at him. Me and my husband went to school 5 times about the bullying and nothing ever happened.

Kyle did not take the knife to school and he is being punished for that.

Me and my husband have tried for 5 plus months to talk to the board and only one board member has ever called me back. I don't care if the child is 6, 13 or 16 every case needs to be looked at individually and not go by Christina's "No Tolerance Policy"

No Tolerance equals no intelligence. Smart people use common sense why isn't the school district.

Kyle will be home schooled all year and he will never return to a Christina School District school.

To all the parents out there who are fighting for their kids because of the 'No Tolerance Policy" we need to stick together and be at every board meeting fighting for our kids and others. Hope to see you all next month. We will be there.
